Presentation of the Study “Belarusian National Identity in 2026: How Belarusians See Their Place in the World and How Their Communication Networks Are Structured”

CIVITTA and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), with the informational support of Press Club Belarus, invite you to an online presentation of the study “Belarusian National Identity in 2026: How Belarusians See Their Place in the World and How Their Communication Networks Are Structured.”

This is the sixth edition of the study through which, since 2020, we have been tracking what it means for society to “be Belarusian.” In previous reports, we analyzed the internal structure of Belarusian identity: identifying what unites and distinguishes groups of Belarusians oriented toward different national projects, and examining the role of politics, language, and cultural consumption.

In this edition, we introduce two new perspectives: how Belarusians see their place in the world and how different segments of Belarusian society are connected through communication networks. The study provides a deeper understanding of the dynamics of national identity and the patterns of interaction within Belarusian society amid ongoing social and political changes.

Authors of the study: independent sociologists Philipp Bikanov, Iryna Klimenka, Elizaveta Kovtyak, and Konstantin Nesterovich.
