Introducing the New Study: "WHO SUPPORTS ECONOMIC REFORMS IN BELARUS AND CAN THEIR VIEWS CHANGE?"

On March 20th, 2024, the Policy Paper "WHO SUPPORTS ECONOMIC REFORMS IN BELARUS AND CAN THEIR VIEWS CHANGE?" authored by Lev Lvovsky, the academic director of BEROC, and Violetta Panasevich, a researcher at BEROC, was presented to the public. This project was conducted in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The launch was supported by Press Club Belarus.

Belarusians have historically experienced a system of state capitalism, influencing their understanding of economic policy and their expectations from it. While economic shocks and the necessity for reforms generate significant interest among Belarusians in economic matters, the level of basic economic education remains relatively low.

The study delves into the preferences of Belarusians regarding economic policy reforms through an analysis of survey results.

The findings of this study serve as a valuable resource for democratic forces, politicians, and researchers. By comprehending the diverse economic policy preferences of Belarusians and their responsiveness to specific messages, stakeholders can devise more targeted and effective strategies for both economic reforms and communication.
